- Merchants can also use their own NFC-enabled Android mobile devices to accept payments from consumers paying with Octopus cards. The mobile device installed with the latest Octopus App for Business works like a common Octopus reader when consumers place their Octopus cards* against the NFC area on the back of merchant's mobile device. Merchants with iOS devices will need to have an Octopus Mobile Reader to receive Octopus card payment.
- Merchants can generate the QR Code (with the transaction amount embedded if needed), export the e-Tent Card or Payment Link through the mobile apps, and display it on the online shop for customers to scan or click for payment.
*This is only applicable for 9-digit Octopus cards (eight digits plus one single digit).

The app just doesn’t make any sense..
It doesn’t connect to your octopus card automatically even though you’ve already set up auto paid with your bank.
Why would anyone buy an additional octopus card reader for an app that doesn’t really do much for you?
Do not even bother download this app..
Cannot register my octopus card
This is the most frustrating app and I don’t understand how a public transportation app with payment refill and purchase history can be so terrible. I have an iPhone and an existing octopus card from citibank. I simply cannot register my card and the service clerk at MTR cannot help at all!
